UK Flood Barriers was contacted by North Midland Construction to provide flood mitigation to protect the power station.
UKFB surveyed the site and both OMO (One Man Operational) Flood Gates and Steel Security, Fire & Flood Doors were chosen as the best solutions.
The site required 3 OMO Flood Gates. Each gate was bespoke, designed in-house to be retro fitted into the existing concrete wall apertures, using specialist fixings and resins to create a strong connection between the gate frame and the concrete structure. Adjustable locks and hinges help with a quick install, which for this project took 3 days.
The OMO Flood Gates were also designed with bespoke connections to floor level - one of the gates needed to be flush to the ground and another to gravel flooring.
In addition, the substation required 5 Steel Security Fire & Flood doors, to provide secure doors as well as flood protection. The doors were manufactured in line with security level SR2, with a panic crossbar escape lock option to allow for quick escape in case of emergency.
The 5 Steel Security Fire & Flood doors were installed within two days, minimising UK Flood Barriers’ impact on the site.
North Midland Construction was pleased with the work of the UKFB team, and the great finish of the OMO Flood Gates and Steel Security Fire & Flood doors.
