Design and Build Estimator

We are looking for an experienced Construction Estimator/Quantity Surveyor who has the ability to price bespoke products and services. This is an opportunity to join a business that embraces change and progressive advancement for career-focused individuals. The company expanded extensively throughout 2016 and is continuing that trend in 2017, therefore, the candidate will be comfortable with a rapidly developing work environment. The right candidate will have the opportunity to transition into a more senior managerial role.

Company/role overview:

You will be a key part of the Design and Build Team of construction professionals working globally on flood defence projects. You will be responsible for both pricing and the administration of the contracts within the team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Pricing, collation and submittal of formal tender documentation for both large and small scale projects
  • Pricing of one-off individual surveys undertaken by the in-house team of surveyors
  • Dealing with international enquiries for bespoke products
  • Liaison with the in-house production team, transport providers and sub- contractors to ensure that projects run smoothly; as and when required to meet the demands of the business
  • Liaison with clients pre- and post-tender, including attending meetings both on and off site with existing and prospective clients
  • Negotiate and keep a track of changes and discrepancies during and post tender process
  • Attend weekly team meetings and report on estimating progress to the Design and Build Team
  • Comply with company’s standard operating procedures, in line with ISO 9001 and 14001 quality management standards and any future operating procedures that are introduced during the expansion of the Design and Build Team


Key skills/experience required:

  • Extensive experience within a construction environment as an estimator or quantity surveyor
  • You will have robust interpersonal and team working skills, in addition to solid decision-making abilities and the ability to multi-task effectively
  • Experience of pricing works for the public sector

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, to include Maths and English
  • Further education in estimating or quantity surveying
